Our interview process is designed to give us the best insight into your technical abilities, approach, attitude, values and behaviours. It also gives you an opportunity to share your experience, skills and ideas and find out more about the Charity, the role, our values and our culture.
We want you to feel comfortable, relaxed and prepared for your interview so we hope the guide below offers you some of the information you need to help you to feel at ease.
Please feel free to contact our recruitment team at any point throughout the process if you have any questions or require assistance at jobs@walesairambulance.com.
At Wales Air Ambulance, our shortlisting selection process is anonymised on receipt. All personal information is removed from applications before being presented to the interview panel. This aims to eliminate unconscious bias, encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce.
Once the job advert deadline has closed, an initial shortlist against essential criteria is carried out by our recruitment team.
Shortlisted candidates are invited to interview. Candidates who are shortlisted for an interview will be contacted via telephone, so please ensure your personal details are included within your application. It is the Charity’s aim to conduct interviews within 2 weeks of the job vacancy closing.
Sometimes a pre-screening interview is held with the initial shortlist of candidates.
If you are shortlisted, we will provide further details on the interview format.
Interviews are predominantly competency based, or also known as behavioural or situational interviews, and use questions, which aim to find out how you have used specific skills in your previous experience and how you approach problems, tasks and challenges. It will focus on the person specification contained within the job description.
Depending on the type of role you have applied for, you may be asked to prepare a presentation as part of the interview.
Your interview panel will usually be two or three employees of Wales Air Ambulance. This is to reduce any unconscious bias and provide a fair and inclusive recruitment process.
After your interview, we will always feedback as soon as possible on whether you have been successful at that stage and any possible next steps in the recruitment process.
