Ewan Watkins – Multimedia Officer
How long have you worked for Wales Air Ambulance?
Since July 2022
Why did you choose to work for the Charity?
I chose to work for the Charity because I wanted to use my Graphic Design degree in a way that I could have positive impact on society. Knowing the great work the Charity does, I felt this was the right match for me and enables me to use my skills, knowledge, and experience through raising awareness and promoting the lifesaving Charity. Knowing I am playing a small part in this motivates me and makes me very proud.
What does your job entail/what are you responsible for?
As a Multimedia Officer working within the communications team, my main responsibilities are graphic design, video editing, photography and assisting with the Charity’s social media platforms. A typical day could include creating graphics for fundraising campaigns to editing a video of a past patient or creating digital graphics for an event/social media. No day is ever the same.
What’s your favourite thing about working for the charity?
I enjoy working on a variety of projects, from fundraising campaigns to awareness initiatives whilst collaborating with other departments and bringing the project to life. The diversity gives me the opportunity to work on different types of projects, allowing me to use my creativity through different platforms and ways, for example, graphic design, video editing, photography, and social media.
What are you most proud of in your career so far?
My proudest moment of my career is having the opportunity and responsibility to lead and design the new train livery with/for Transport for Wales who chose Wales Air Ambulance as their Charity of the Year. Seeing the designs come to life and knowing it will raise awareness of the lifesaving charity across Wales and England is something I am very proud of.
What’s the most interesting part of your job?
The most interesting part of my job is finding out about the amazing stories of past patients and the work that our medics do daily. I find it very interesting designing internal and external newsletters and finding out the different ways our supporters raise money for the charity through their fundraising efforts.
What makes your job so rewarding?
Knowing I am part of a team that is dedicated to the cause and the charity’s mission, gives me a sense of purpose and makes me feel proud. Knowing my creative work directly supports initiatives that aim to make a positive difference in the world is very fulfilling.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself.
I absolutely love sport, music and travelling. I particularly love football especially the super Swans! I love going skiing and I love going to a music festival and a gig/concert or two.
If you weren’t doing the job you are doing, what would you do (this can be a fantasy job!)
Being a professional footballer player for a top team, for example Real Madrid/Barcelona but I would settle for the Swans!
