Debra Sima, North East Wales Community Fundraiser
How long have you worked for Wales Air Ambulance?
I have worked for the Charity for over 9 years.
Why did you choose to work for the Charity?
I wanted to do a job that made a difference after working in financial services for nearly 20 years.
What does your job entail/ what are you responsible for?
I cover Flintshire, Wrexham and Denbighshire from a Fundraising and Volunteers perspective. My job is to support our fundraisers and volunteers in their fundraising journey and steward new support around the region whilst nurturing our existing supporter base. I promote existing campaigns around the area and organise events and tasks for the volunteers.
What’s your favourite part about your job?
Meeting our past patients, their family and friends. I enjoy hearing about the true impact of our service and how it saves people’s lives.
What are you most proud of in your career so far?
Lasting over nine years! The relationships I have built in my communities which provide repeat support year after year.
What makes your job so rewarding?
Playing a small part in helping to save people’s lives.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself.
My parents tell me at the age of 3, I woke up one day and announced, "I am a Manchester United supporter”, and I still am!
If you weren’t doing the job you are doing, what would you do (this can be a fantasy job!)
I would love to be David Beckhams PA! Although on a more serious note, I’d probably still be working at the bank .
