Wales Air Ambulance delivers advanced lifesaving medical care to people across Wales, 24/7. We are the only air ambulance charity based in and dedicated to the people of Wales and rely entirely on your charitable donations to raise 11.2 million every year to keep the helicopters in the air and rapid response vehicles on the road.
We have successfully grown our service over the last twenty three years from a single aircraft operating five days a week from a single base in South Wales to the four aircraft 24/7 service model that we have today.

Job Purpose
A key role in the High Value Team helping to establish and unlock the full potential of a high value philanthropy programme for Wales Air Ambulance Charity. You will work closely with the Head of Fundraising – High Value Partnerships and colleagues in this team to secure five and six figure gifts.
The main purpose of this role is to cultivate and secure high value gifts including legacy pledges from individual donors. The Philanthropy and Partnerships Fundraiser will personally meet with and develop relationships with donors and external partners, working to targets.
Wales Air Ambulance site/Home Based. Travel across all Wales Air Ambulance sites, is required including travel to Dafen on a regular basis
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the charity’s high value donor programme, working with teams across the charity to continually identifying a high value donor pipeline
- Identify and build effective relationships with partners in the wealth management and private client sectors, increasing their awareness and promotion of the charity’s work
- Provide outstanding stewardship of supporters, developing tailored donor journeys that increase the acquisition, retention, and commitment of high value donors and legacy pledgers
- Work with the Head of Fundraising – High Value Partnerships to develop the strategy and approach for new fundraising committees and giving circles, including a programme of special donor and partner events
- Develop inspiring communications and donor journeys relevant to donor types that encourage movement of prospects through the donor journey providing ample opportunities for two-way engagement
- Harness a proactive and sensitive approach to growing the numbers of high value legacy pledges and their regular review
- Effective use of CRM, recording, reporting of pipeline and monitoring of portfolio, using data to shape personalised approaches to donors and legacy pledgers
- Working with key internal stakeholders, to inform marketing campaigns in line with brand guidelines and legacy proposition, developing tailored advice guides and other key communication materials to promote high value giving.
- Deliver coaching to all donor facing staff to increase internal knowledge and understanding on high value and legacy giving
- Maintain accurate forecasting and timely reporting evidencing movement through donor journeys
- Be responsible for own prospect research, administration and event co-ordination
- Support colleagues in wider high value team with their projects and when required support in person engagement and events, which may include evenings and weekends
- Personal Specification - Essential Criteria
- Demonstrable experience of making successful financial asks (preferably within the charity sector)
- Proven experience in the identification, cultivation and conversion of higher value new business or donor prospects and leads
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills with a strong ability to empathise, build rapport and credibility with a diverse range of people
- High standards of presentation, particularly within personal communications including in-person, by phone or written
- Experience of developing targeted business or donor engagement programmes and supporter journeys (preferably within the charity sector)
- Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to plan and prioritise work; handle conflicting demands, manage a wide range of projects, and meet deadlines.
- Proven experience of data analysis, insights and evaluation skills, and experience of evidence-based decision making
- Excellent IT skills including MS packages, databases, and CRM systems
- Ability to work autonomously towards a shared strategy and objectives
- Up-to-date knowledge and understanding of regulation, policy and best practice codes, and ethical considerations relevant to charity fundraising and income generation.
- Ability to work in a consultative and open way, promoting inter-departmental teamwork and sharing of ideas to achieve the Charity’s goals
