Wales Air Ambulance delivers advanced lifesaving medical care to people across Wales, 24/7. We are the only air ambulance charity based in and dedicated to the people of Wales and rely entirely on your charitable donations to raise 11.2 million every year to keep the helicopters in the air and rapid response vehicles on the road.
We have successfully grown our service over the last twenty three years from a single aircraft operating five days a week from a single base in South Wales to the four aircraft 24/7 service model that we have today.

Job Purpose
Working alongside colleagues within the Community Fundraising Team and wider, the Community Volunteer Co-Ordinator will proactively source and personally deliver talks or workshop opportunities with priority audiences in priority geographic areas.
The role requires you to actively recruit, retain and motivate volunteers across your region developing the Community Talks Network to deliver talks and workshops.
You will develop, inform and embed the principles and tools of the Community Talks Network in your region.
This is a hybrid role, working from home and a Charity Hub/Office/Airbase location near Welshpool when required. At least 60% of time spent out in the field within Mid Wales, engaging externally and face to face.
The role includes some weekend, Bank Holiday and evening work.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver the minimum required number of talks or workshops per week, in a wide range of face-to-face settings, through own and volunteer resources.
- Work closely with members of the Community Fundraising team to develop an effective plan around priority group types, audiences and locations, raising profile in priority regions.
- Proactively contact new audiences by a range of methods including telephone and in-person to secure opportunities to deliver talks and workshops opportunities.
- Effectively prioritise and co-ordinate the fulfilment of incoming requests for talks and workshops.
- Uphold administration and cash handling procedures - logging talks, engagement, forward actions and donations received accurately on the charity’s CRM.
- Work with the central volunteer co-ordinating team to ensure new volunteers are correctly onboarded, inducted and all necessary checks carried out, in line with Charity procedures.
- Support with the generation of content for the promotion of the Community Talks Network and for talks and workshops undertaken.
- With wider charity team members develop the Community Talks volunteer role descriptions, guidance, best practise and training for the development of the volunteer speakers.
- Continually seek to develop the success of the Community Talks Network through innovative recruitment, volunteer skills development and by supporting Speakers with their public speaking development.
- Represent and work with the Fundraising and wider charity teams at local engagement events.
- Support the development of the charity’s public speaking resources (such as PowerPoint presentations) the Speakers e-newsletter, emails, evaluations and online resource library.
- Keep your regional Community Talks Network up to date with the charity’s key messages, appeals, campaigns, fundraising and volunteering.
- Demonstrate the charity’s values including being considerate when representing Wales Air Ambulance and always leaving others with a positive view of our organisation and the work that we do.
Personal Specification - Essential Criteria
- Proven ability to proactively network and generate engagement opportunities.
- Excellent presentation and public speaking skills, able to present to a variety of audiences.
- Experience of working (or volunteering) in a fundraising or customer service environment with a new business development focus.
- Committed to and enthusiastic about the aims and objectives of Wales Air Ambulance.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills able to establish excellent working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
- Experience of working on own initiative and ability to prioritise own workload.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills to support local events and Charity wide activity achieving a good net profit or return on time invested for your region.
- Demonstrable experience of managing and coordinating volunteers to ensure the Charity makes effective use of their time.
- Willingness to travel and work outside normal hours to attend events and networking
- Excellent IT skills with experience of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, database systems (CRMs)
- Ability to prepare materials to a high standard supporting engagement with a range of audiences, from presentations through to reports, toolkits, meeting notes etc.
Whilst not essential, the ability to speak Welsh is highly desirable for this post.
